Good foot nail scissors cut even thick, hard toenails cleanly, without the nail splintering. Look out for these points when buying:

  • Short, strong blade: gets through thick and callused nails without twisting.
  • Lever action or gearing: clearly reduces the effort required – pleasant when hand strength is limited.
  • Long handle for seniors: models with an extra long handle reach the toenails comfortably, even when bending down is difficult.
  • Straight blade: Toenails are cut straight – this prevents ingrown nail corners. Curved blades belong on fingernail scissors.
  • Stainless steel: durable, hygienic and re-sharpenable. Nickel-plated instruments are not rust-free; we state this in the product description.

For particularly thick or heavily callused nails, nail nippers or a front cutter are often the better choice – they offer even more cutting power.
