Head cutters - the particularly sharp nail nippers

What is a head cutter?
Head cutters are nail nippers with a crescent-shaped cutting head.
Our head cutters at a glance
For nails that ordinary nippers cannot manage:
- Head cutter Basic model – our best-selling entry model, with a tapered blade
- MANePED double-action head cutter, 3-piece set – double action for maximum cutting power
- Ruck trapezoid head cutter – professional model from podiatry
What are head cutters used for?
Head cutters are used above all for curled or ingrown nails. Thanks to the thin and fine tips you can get under the nail very easily and remove it without effort, thanks to the considerable leverage.
What makes head cutters so special?
Head cutters are professional tools for every beautician and foot care specialist, they are indispensable in medical foot care and they are one of the favourite tools of podiatrists.
Where are head cutters used in particular?
Toenails in particular, which are naturally harder and thicker and often show heavier keratinisation, can be treated relatively easily with a head cutter.
Head cutter or nail nipper – what is the difference?
The head cutter is often also called a head cutter nail nipper. Unlike an ordinary nail nipper, the cutting edges of a head cutter sit at the front of the head and are slightly curved. This gives you a better view of the nail and lets you cut very precisely without injuring the surrounding tissue.
Using a head cutter correctly
To use a head cutter correctly, the nails should first be cleaned and, if necessary, briefly soaked. Then place the cutting edge at a right angle and cut small pieces instead of removing large corners. Always work from the edge towards the middle and take care not to cut the nail too short. This keeps the nail edge smooth and the risk of injury low.
What is a half head cutter?
A half head cutter is a special design in which the cutting edges taper somewhat narrower and finer than on the classic head cutter. This makes it particularly suitable for precise work on narrow or sensitive nails. Many professionals combine a robust head cutter for thick nails with a half head cutter for detailed corrections.
Which head cutter models do we offer?
We offer 3 different standard models.

flame tip – the classic “standard” head cutter with its two very finely tapering tips – for all kinds of applications
short tip – a slightly smaller model, also suitable for fingernails thanks to its shorter cutting length
single tip – specially for the corners; with this model you can treat the corners in particular without removing the rest of the nail
Why might a head cutter not be right for your purpose?
If you only want to cut nails, reach instead for our standard models under nail nippers, since a head cutter can also have the following disadvantages:
- a high risk of injury if used improperly, because the very fine tips can easily hurt the skin
- very sharp – you may cut off more than you intended, because the large blade is easy to underestimate
- if you need less effort or even more leverage, you need a double-action nipper
Advantages:
- suitable for both toenails and fingernails
- extremely sharp
- small and compact for any trip
