Which nipper for podiatrists?

In podiatric practice, three types of nipper cover the majority of treatments:

  • Nail nipper with lever action – for thickened, mycotic or heavily keratinised nails. The lever action spares hand and wrist over several treatments a day.
  • Corner nipper – narrow, very sharp blade for the nail fold and ingrown nail corners. Available in various blade widths, usually 3 to 9 mm.
  • Cuticle nipper – for the nail wall and skin edges, where scissors or a scalpel would be too coarse.

Added to these are corner elevators and probes for exposing the nail fold and placing tamponades, plus scalpel handles with matching disposable blades for callus and corns.

Why RUCK in the practice

  • Fully sterilisable – designed for reprocessing in an autoclave, not just for wipe disinfection.
  • Re-sharpenable – the blades can be reconditioned several times instead of replacing the instrument.
  • Consistent dimensions – important when you reorder an instrument and want it to feel like the old one.
  • Made in Germany – Hellmuth RUCK produces in Baden-Württemberg, not in Solingen.

Reprocessing

Place instruments in the disinfectant solution immediately after treatment so that nothing dries on. Then clean, rinse, dry completely and only then sterilise – residual moisture in the joint is the most common cause of rust spots on otherwise flawless instruments.

Foot care instruments for podiatrists and medical foot care

Nail instruments from Hellmut RUCK are manufactured in Germany and, due to the high legal requirements for medical use in professional foot care (podiatry), have CE certification. The use of certified instruments is mandatory for podiatrists, which is why RUCK, as one of the few manufacturers of medical foot care instruments, has made this a matter close to its heart.

A special feature of RUCK instruments is the new TRAPEZ series. The TRAPEZ series combines ergonomic handling with maximum precision and cutting power.

Why are certified podiatry instruments important in medical foot care?

In contrast to nail care instruments for conventional users, CE-certified nail care instruments/podiatry instruments are subject to very strict quality assurance . The instruments must meet various criteria regarding complete technical documentation , manufacturing , design , and reusability (disinfection) . One advantage of this is the consistently high quality and the approval under German Medical Act for use of these instruments in the medical field.
