Sharpening Service – Scissor and Tong Sharpening

You only buy a good pair of scissors once

Instruments from Solingen are built to last for decades. The prerequisite is that they are maintained – just as a good knife is resharpened.

We resharpen your nail scissors, cuticle scissors, and nippers, align them, and readjust the joint. You will receive an instrument back that cuts like new again – for a fraction of the new price.

First check: are the scissors actually dull?

In many cases, they are not. They are just out of adjustment – the screw is too tight or too loose, or dirt is blocking the joint. This can be fixed in two minutes yourself.

How to tell the difference is explained in the guide Having nail scissors sharpened – when it's worthwhile. Please read this briefly before sending anything in. We'd rather not earn anything than charge you for an unnecessary service.

What the service costs

15 to 25 Euros per instrument, depending on the effort and design. A simple pair of nail scissors is quicker to do than fine cuticle scissors or nippers with a lever action.

We will tell you the exact price before shipping – so you won't pay in advance without knowing what you're getting.

Already included in the purchase

We provide a 1-year manufacturer's warranty and a free resharpening service within the warranty period for our nippers. If your nippers are still within this period, the resharpening will cost you nothing.

How it works

  1. Inquire. Write to us at info@nagelzange.de – preferably with a photo of the instrument.
  2. We check. You will find out if resharpening is worthwhile and what it costs.
  3. Return label. We will provide this to you.
  4. Send in. Please state the value of the goods.
  5. Processing. Allow three to four weeks.
  6. Return shipping. Sharpened, aligned, and checked.

What we accept

  • Nail scissors and cuticle scissors with screw joints
  • Nail clippers, corner nippers, and head cutters
  • Household and fabric scissors
  • Even old pieces – age is not an exclusion criterion, condition is
  • Instruments you did not purchase from us

What cannot be processed

  • Serrated blades, such as on thinning shears – the serration cannot be restored without destroying its function
  • Riveted instruments that cannot be disassembled
  • Nickel-plated goods – the coating would be removed during sharpening
  • Severely rusted or bent instruments

Should one of these cases apply, we will inform you before shipping. This way you save postage and waiting time.

Regarding the value of goods

Please state the value of the instrument when sending it in. Should something go wrong during transport or processing, the compensation will be based on this information. Especially with heirlooms and high-quality Solingen instruments, a realistic assessment is worthwhile.

Our General Terms and Conditions apply.

For practices

Do you work in podiatry or foot care and regularly have several instruments reprocessed? Talk to us about collective processing. Please consider the lead time – how to calculate your instrument sets so that operations continue during this time is explained in our article on initial equipment.

Why it's worth it

  • Economical. A fraction of the new price for an instrument that cuts like new again.
  • Ecological. Repair instead of replace – for an instrument that was built to last a lifetime anyway.
  • Personal. Some scissors have accompanied people for decades. You don't have to give them up.

To make it necessary less often

  • Dry after each use – moisture in the joint is the biggest enemy
  • Occasionally a drop of oil on the screw joint
  • Nail scissors only for nails, cuticle scissors only for cuticles
  • Never cut paper, tape, or hair with them
  • Do you need a new instrument instead of a repair? Pay attention to the screw joint – only this can be maintained later. Which instrument suits you is clarified in our buying guide.
