Safety Razors & Double-Edge Razors

A safety razor works with a single double-edged blade – cheaper to run than any cartridge head and gentler on the skin, because only one edge passes over the skin instead of three or five.

The three designs

  • Closed comb – the way in. The blade is well supported, which forgives a wrong angle.
  • Open comb – more blade exposed, a more aggressive cut. For dense beard growth and practised hands.
  • Adjustable – the blade gap can be set. Useful when face and neck differ in sensitivity.
